Check out these gems:

  1. If you make a reservation on Wednesday for a Saturday-night dinner at your favorite restaurant, you’ll spend the next three days imagining your pasta carbonara to come — which improves your weekend and your week.

  2. Consider doing your chores during the workweek; the chores will take less time because you have less time. This will leave your weekends free for more rejuvenating activities. Throw a load of laundry in before dinner and have the kids either do the dishes after or fold. Make a quick trip to the grocery store at 8:30 p.m. on a Wednesday. The place will be so empty you’ll zoom through.

  3. If a sparkling house is important to you, … then designate a short cleaning time on the weekend, perhaps on Sunday afternoon. That way, if you find yourself looking at a messy house on Saturday morning, you can tell yourself that there’s a time for cleaning, and now is not that time. When the cleaning window arrives, set an alarm and do as much as you can in an hour. When the time is up, it’s up.
  4. Finally this one. “At 3 p.m. on Sunday, I still have 15 hours before I’ll wake up Monday morning, including seven hours before I need to go to bed. Why not seize that time? “, and the advice is to throw a party on Sunday evening. Then what? Clean up throughout the week? :-), fun reading.

Urvashi Butalia writes about the cruelty and insensitivity of the rich people in India and brings up issues around the nexus between rich industrialists, rich people in general, politics and newsmedia based on their interdependence. The picture of cruelty is revealing. Worth a read.

Forgiveness is a great trait of #Temperance

I am reading this wonderful article o by Gina Sharpe Fogiveness is one of the twenty four wonderful character strengths, and belongs to the theme of Temperance as a character trait that Martin Seligman et al identified in their classification of human characters. The other five are: Wisdom and Knowledge, Courage, Humanity, Justice, and Transcendence.

Forgiveness is not easy, and I think this is the reason it is such a tremendous strength to cultivate. Interestingly, searching for an image to represent forgiveness, the enduring and most often image that turned up in my search was two people hugging each other, or two hands clasping each other. Symbolic of union, acceptance, meeting, feeling as one with the other. A trait of compassion.
